Starlites Anthem --> |
|
|
| |
Within this sector, children are
engaged in activities and games which focus on further development
and reinforcement of the ABC’s of movement. (Long Term Athletic
Development) Introduction to skills such as skipping, basic
gymnastics and body awareness exercises are all part of the teaching
and learning curriculum within this age
bracket.
More mini basketball skills are introduced. These are combined with
motor skills from LTAD principles so as to keep the young
participant interested, challenged and motivated. At this age
participation and practice is mixed. A co-educational philosophy is
practiced here at Starlites as it is deemed to be highly important
to have children
of both sexes playing and discovering the thrill and joy of movement
in a shared environment. Participation in tournaments is regular and
adapted for all. All children are welcome to practice, play and take
part in social functions. Emphasis at this age is not on development
of technique but on increasing the interest and enjoyment of
participation. This will guarantee future active participation.
Games are adapted to mini games based on a 3 vs 3 structure in which
children can develop basic space awareness and also have
opportunities of discovering elements in options of passing,
shooting and dribbling. Through this small sided environment,
children will be able to develop progressively and eventually find
transition to the 5 vs 5 game easier at a later stage. |
