“ Towards an Active Lifestyle ”
Aims
Starlites Basketball club has been functioning as a basketball club for the last fifteen years. The aims and objectives of the club have changed and developed throughout the years. A major development in this club came about in 2004 when the club decided to invest heavily in the youth and the younger participants, thus developing the mini basketball nursery which takes in participants between the ages of 4 to 12 years of age.
Objectives
The club’s motto, “Towards an Active Lifestyle” was targeted as the philosophy behind the development of the nursery was not based on elitism; providing basketball development for the able bodied only, but shifts towards a holistic integrated approach which offers skill, fun and movement to all those who join. This inclusive philosophy is also being carried over to the junior sectors and also amongst the parents of our participants and players. Parent’s games are held every Tuesday at Naxxar halls where parents come over and take an active part in basketball games and fun activities. A number of calendar events are held during which parents and children come together in fun active environments. The Starlites Xmas and Easter festivals together with the end of season Gozo event are the main activities organized within the club itself.
