On April 1st, 2024, the Starlites Naxxar Basketball Club hosted a day-long event titled the “Basketball Marathon” to celebrate the joy of Easter and bring together all club members. This lively day was packed with activities for players of all ages, as well as for families and friends.
The event kicked off at 9:00 am with mini-basketball games for boys under 12, providing an exciting opportunity for young players to showcase their skills on the court. Concurrently, a car wash station was set up at the outdoor premises in Naxxar, offering participants a chance to support the club while taking care of their vehicles.
At 10:00 am, parents had the opportunity to attend a conference on nutrition for young athletes, highlighting the importance of a healthy and balanced diet to support their children’s sports performance. Meanwhile, fun competitions allowed participants to showcase their technical skills.
At 11:00 am, a food and drinks table was opened, offering a variety of refreshments for hungry participants. Basketball games for girls under 12 also commenced at this time.
The afternoon saw a series of mini-basketball games for boys and girls under 10, providing an opportunity for the youngest club members to get involved in the action on the court. At 2:00 pm, participants had the opportunity to meet and greet the club’s professional players, as well as Brillu, the beloved club mascot.
The Easter egg hunt added a festive touch to the event at 3:00 pm, where children had the chance to search for colorful eggs hidden throughout the venue. The youngest players under 6 and 8 then took the court for their own mini-basketball games at 3:15 pm, showcasing their enthusiasm and budding talent for the game.
At 4:00 pm, participants could relax with a game of bingo, providing a well-deserved break for families and friends in attendance.
The evening saw more competitive basketball games, with matches for boys and girls under 14 and 16 at 5:00 pm. A Zumba session at 6:00 pm allowed parents and players to loosen up and enjoy dancing together.
The highlight of the day was the adult and parent basketball game at 7:00 pm, where participants could relive their youth on the court while sharing moments of camaraderie with other club members.
At 8:00 pm, the “Basketball Marathon” concluded with an atmosphere of satisfaction and joy, with lasting memories created and bonds strengthened among club members. This event was much more than just a day of basketball—it was a celebration of community, sport, and the Easter spirit.
